How to boost your immune system
Updated: Oct 21, 2018
There seems to be so many people suffering at the moment with colds, coughs and sore throats, so I though it would be helpful to collate some information on this topic to help you.
Healthy immune function is a whole-body effort, and maintaining it takes a holistic approach. Here’s three things that can help:
1. Get at least seven hours of sleep a night—and avoid pulling any all-nighters. Cut back on alcohol, artificial light and working at night.
2. Exercise regularly to promote memory cells, enhance skin immunity, and increase certain immune type cells. What ever you like to do, brisk walk, run, cycle, swim or dance!
3. Eat a healthy, balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables (vitamin C) and lean proteins (vitamin B) to provide essential micro- and macronutrients. Zinc is important and some good sources are beef, chickpeas, cashews and kidney beans. And don’t forget fibre will also provide your microbiome with what it needs to maintain good gut barrier function.
